Hello there!

Hello, I’m Jess the founder, curator, collector, cleaner and multi hat wearing smiley bubbly woman behind Southside Collector.

What began as a lifelong love for vintage treasures has grown into a thriving bricks-and-mortar and online destination for thoughtfully curated vintage furniture, homewares, and one-of-a-kind collectibles. I’ve now been running Southside Collector full time for over six years, and my mission remains the same: to bring you beautiful, well-made pieces with history, soul, and character the kinds of items that transform a house into a home.

Southside Collector was born from my deep appreciation for the past and the stories that live within vintage objects. I’ve always been drawn to timeless design from the clean lines of mid-century furniture to the sculptural forms of art glass and the everyday beauty of vintage homewares. Each piece I source is chosen not just for how it looks, but for how it feels, how it was made, and the story it carries.

A Big Year of Growth

This past year has been one of the most transformative chapters yet.

After six years of growing the business, Southside Collector has continued to evolve expanding into a dedicated warehouse space in Moorabbin, Victoria, and most recently into a second warehouse for storage, workshops, and future projects. The original space has been opened up entirely as shop floor, allowing for more furniture, more homewares, and more room to explore.

Along the way, I’ve navigated big changes, challenges, and milestones from moving locations and signing new leases, to building a strong, engaged community of collectors, fellow vintage lovers, and local creatives. Southside Collector has become more than a store; it’s a space for connection, storytelling, and shared appreciation for craftsmanship and sustainability.

What I Do

At Southside Collector, I specialise in:

  • Curating unique vintage finds from furniture and décor to rare and collectable pieces, each handpicked for quality, character, and design.
  • Offering high-quality vintage homewares that are made to last and meant to be lived with.
  • Championing sustainability by encouraging second-hand buying and preserving well-made pieces for future generations.

My Philosophy
I believe every vintage piece has a story worth preserving. These items were made with care, craftsmanship, and intention and they deserve to be enjoyed again, not forgotten. My goal is to help these pieces find new homes where they can be loved, used, and appreciated for decades to come.

What’s Next

Looking ahead, Southside Collector continues to evolve.

The next chapter includes deeper curation, expanded collections, more community-driven events, and continued growth of the Moorabbin space as a destination for vintage lovers. While the business keeps growing, the focus remains unchanged: quality over quantity, thoughtful sourcing, and creating a space that feels welcoming, inspiring, and genuinely personal.

Whether you’re searching for the perfect statement piece, building a collection, or ready to part with some of your own vintage treasures I’d love to connect.

Thank you for being part of the Southside Collector journey.

Here’s to honouring the past and making it part of our present.

Warmly,

Jess Hardy
